- I have been playing fiddle for 5 years now, and I must say that most of what I have learned has come from playing in jam sessions with other musicians. It is great fun to get together with people who enjoy sharing this kind of roots music.

“ The best way to learn how to play a musical instrument is to get out of your little room, and spend some time with other musicians! We were all beginners at one time. This is a fun gathering of people of all levels of talent and expertise. We have been meeting for 2 years at Books-A-Million every Sunday (except for the 3rd Sunday of each month when we contradance in Lake Park). Each person brings something valuable and unique into the mix. I have learned many tunes since I have been attending this jam, and I have gained a lot of confidence in my fiddle playing. It is a casual setting in the store cafe, and I like playing indoors where it is air conditioned. There is no charge to play, or to just come in and listen. We arrive around 1 pm, and stay until 5 or even later. ”
