 he The Saw Doctors as they return to New York as part of their 20th anniver
 sary tour to play an outdoor concert at Governors Island. The Saw Doctors\,
  of Tuam\, Ireland\, came out of the Galway punk scene of the mid-80s\, for
 ming in 1986 with a completely different "roots rock" sound that combined i
 nfluences from The Beatles\, The Byrds and Bruce Springsteen with tradition
 al Irish music and the occasional burst of punk rock energy. This tour comm
 erorates the 20th anniversary of their first tour when they opened for The 
 Waterboys in 1988. \n\nThe Saw Doctors released their first full-length alb
 um in 1991 and over the years have developed an international following wit
 h such classic songs as "N17"\, "I Useta Love Her"\, "The Green and Red of 
 \n\nMayo"\, "Red Cortina"\, "Haywrap"\, "To Win Just Once"\, "That's What S
 he Said Last Night" and many others. \n\nFounding members and songwriters D
 avey Carton and Leo Moran continue to lead The Saw Doctors on vocals and gu
 itar respectively with Pearse Doherty\, John Donnelly and Derek Murray roun
 ding out the band on bass\, drums and keyboards.\n\nThe show starts at 7\, 
 we'll meet starting around 4:30 at Ulysses' Folk House at 95 Pearl St.\, ab
 out a 5-minute walk from the ferry terminal\, before getting on the ferry t
 o Governors Island in time for the concert. Tickets are now available at ha

SUMMARY:Celtic Collision in Brooklyn

  Celtic Music Meetup is going to Brooklyn for the Celtic Collision show in 
 Williamsburg! It's a six-hour concert extravaganza featuring four bands tha
 t each play their own very distinct style of Celtic music.\n\nHere's the li
 neup so far: \n\nBrooklyn's Seanchai and the Unity Squad\, which mixes Celt
 ic with punk\, funk and hip-hop. They're fronted by Black 47 co-founder and
  former uilleann piper Chris Byrne. They have one of the most unique versio
 ns of "Fields of Athenry" that I've ever heard. It's not for everyone\, but
  check it out HERE.\n\nLong Island's Finn's Fury\, which we saw as part of 
 April's Irish Rock Fest at Connolly's. I thought they sounded like what Led
  Zeppelin would sound like if they had ever tried to play Irish music. It l
 ooks like they've changed their lineup a bit since then and are now pushing
  more of a punk sound. In any case\, they still have the legendary O'Doom o
 n lead vocals and bass.\n\nThe Bronx's Jameson's Revenge\, which we saw at 
 Hurley's back in June. A traditional Irish supergroup comprising members of
  several other local bands\, that always puts on a great show.\n\nAnd in fr
 om the West Coast\, Oakland's Beltaine's Fire\, "Celtic hip hop fusion revo
 lutionaries". I think if Massive Attack ever tried to do Celtic\, this is w
 hat they might sound like. \n\nThere may yet be more bands added between no
 w and then. The show starts at 9 p.m.\, ends at 3 a.m. We also have a Meetu
 p to see the Saw Doctors that evening\, so I'm thinking we can check out Ce
 ltic Collision afterwards\, probably getting there between 10 and 11. If an
 yone wants to get there earlier and help organize for those not going to th

 s in Times Square.\n\nOnce known as Barry Moore\, the less-famous younger b
 rother of legendary Irish folk singer Christy Moore\, Luka Bloom has over t
 he past 20 years or so formed his own identity in the Irish and folk music 
 scenes. He's currently touring in support of his latest album\, "The Man is
  Alive."\n\nCheck out some of his songs on his MySpace page. I've never see
 n him live before\, but I'm told he's far better live than in the studio an
 d his concerts are not to be missed.\n\nAs I mentioned\, this is a joint Me
 etup with the Irish in New York Meetup. Doors open at 6\, the music starts 
 at 8. We'll be meeting outside the venue at 5:45 so as to get a table or ta
 bles upfront and we'll plan to have dinner there. So if you want to sit wit
 h us\, get there early. If you're content to stand in the bar and see the s
 how from there\, that's your call\, though I'm told by those who've been to
  this venue before that it's not a particularly good vantage point.\n\nWe r
 ecommend you buy your tickets in advance as we do expect the show to sell o
 ut. They're $25 plus nearly $13 more in Ticketmaster service charges. Click
